One Letter Change

I guess I always knew that WWJD, or “What Would Jesus Do,” was something I should be thinking about on a rather regular basis. I always knew it was a question I needed to be regularly asking myself. However, for some reason I didn’t quite understand - and even though I grew up as a Christian during a time when WWJD bracelets were probably at their peak in popularity - I’ve never actually wore one of them. It wasn’t until recently that I realized the reason I hadn’t is most likely because WWJD is a question.

You see, knowing myself and how I normally acted, I knew that my typical response when asked a question was to simply make sure I could give the right answer but then do little to nothing else with that knowledge. And I guess this really didn’t seem like the kind of behavior I wanted to be encouraging myself to do.

But I recently came up with an idea for a new bracelet. And it’s actually not much different than the old one. I changed WWJD to DWJD and the question “What Would Jesus Do” to a command “Do What Jesus Did.” My hope is this simple one-letter change would stop me from just knowing what Jesus did and I would start actually doing it instead.
